Four Major Biometric Systems: From Fingerprint Scanners to Ear-Print Identification

In the age of technology, it has become very difficult to keep up with all the innovations being released—one area where we have seen a lot of innovation in a biometric system. Biometrics is the study and use of people’s physical or behavioral characteristics for authentication purposes.

This post will be going over four different major biometric systems:

1) Fingerprint scanners:

This system has been used in law enforcement and other security applications for many years. Fingerprint scanners work by capturing an image of the user’s fingerprints and then comparing them to a database of fingerprints. If there is a match, the user is authenticated.

2) Voice recognition:

This system is used to identify a user by their voice. Voice recognition systems work by capturing an audio sample of the user’s voice and then comparing it to a database of voices.

3) Iris scanning:

This system uses the patterns in a person’s iris as authentication. Iris scanning systems work by capturing an image of the user’s iris and then comparing it to a database of irises.

4) Ear-print identification:

This system uses the unique patterns in a person’s ear as authentication. Ear-print identification systems work by capturing an image of the user’s ear and then comparing it to a database of ears.
